What Is Apni Chat Apna Ghar?

Apni Chat Apna Ghar (ACAG) is a housing scheme by the Punjab government for low-income families who do not already own a pucca (permanent) house. The program offers affordable housing units or plots on easy installment plans, making home ownership possible for families who have been living in rented or kutcha housing.

The scheme is managed through PHATA (Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency) and related housing authorities. Applications are processed district-wise with income and property ownership verification.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Punjab resident with valid CNIC
  • Monthly household income below the threshold set for each phase (verify current limit)
  • Does not already own a pucca house in Pakistan
  • Not a beneficiary of a similar housing scheme previously
  • Ability to pay monthly installments as per the payment plan

Required Documents

  • CNIC of applicant (and spouse if married)
  • Proof of income — salary slip, business record, or self-declaration affidavit
  • Proof that you do not own a pucca house (affidavit + verification)
  • Domicile or Punjab residence proof
  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • Bank account for installment payments

Application Process

  1. Check your basic eligibility using our tool above.
  2. Visit acag.punjab.gov.pk when registration opens.
  3. Register with CNIC and complete the online form.
  4. Upload income proof and required affidavits.
  5. Pay the registration fee (if applicable for that phase).
  6. Wait for balloting or direct allocation depending on the phase.
  7. Upon selection, sign the installment agreement and begin payments.
  8. Receive possession of the housing unit or plot as per project timeline.

After Selection

Selected applicants sign an installment agreement with defined monthly payments over a set number of years. PHATA verifies that you do not own property elsewhere. Construction or possession timelines depend on the specific housing project. Missing installments can lead to cancellation.

Common Mistakes

  • Applying when you already own a pucca house (even in a village) — this causes rejection
  • Underreporting or overreporting income inconsistently with NADRA or bank records
  • Missing installment deadlines after allocation
  • Paying unauthorized agents for "guaranteed" selection

Apna Ghar FAQs

Can I apply if I own agricultural land? Owning farm land does not always disqualify you, but owning a pucca house does. Verify current rules.

What is the installment amount? Varies by project and unit size — check the official portal for current projects.

Is balloting used? Some phases use balloting when applications exceed available units.
